How It Works

During a scintigraphy scan, a small amount of a safe radioactive tracer is injected into the horse’s bloodstream. This tracer then localizes in areas with increased bone activity, which is indicative of injury or stress. Specialised gamma cameras detect this tracer and create detailed images that highlight problem areas.
